Significant rail disruptions occurred across France and Italy on June 10 and 11 as strikes by employees of SNCF and Trenitalia took effect. The industrial actions affected a broad range of services on both the French and Italian rail networks, leading to extensive operational challenges over the two-day period.
Among the impacted routes were intercity and regional trains in both countries, with reports indicating a large number of cancellations and delays. In France, approximately one in three TGV high-speed services were cancelled, while regional trains faced substantial interruptions. Eurostar, the high-speed link connecting the UK with continental Europe, also cancelled
services during the strike days. The combined impact was felt by millions of passengers, disrupting travel plans across multiple destinations.
Rail operators emphasized that travelers should prepare for interruptions and check service updates before planning journeys. Refunds and alternative arrangements were applicable according to the policies in place during the strike. The ongoing disruptions reflect continued challenges within the rail sector in both countries, affecting passenger mobility during this period.
