Hyatt Hotels Corporation has affiliated with Atlantic Suites Hotel in Guyana, marking Hyatt’s inaugural hotel presence in the country, the company announced on August 13, 2026. The partnership includes a development project valued at approximately $50 million to integrate the existing hotel with a new adjoining tower. This expansion will culminate in 2028 with the property rebranding as Hyatt Regency Georgetown Guyana.
Atlantic Suites Hotel Current Facilities and Amenities
Located in Georgetown, the capital and commercial center of Guyana, Atlantic Suites Hotel currently operates 80 guestrooms and suites offering views of the Atlantic Ocean or city skyline. The hotel caters to business and extended-stay travelers and features
a 24-hour fitness center. Guests benefit from access to amenities at the neighboring Pegasus Hotel and Pegasus Corporate Business Center, properties owned by RJR Investments & Holdings Inc. Pegasus Corporate Business Center includes approximately 36,000 square feet of meeting space and six dining venues, notably the Aura Sky Lounge with panoramic views.
$50 Million Development to Create Hyatt Regency Georgetown Guyana
RJR Investments & Holdings Inc. will develop a new tower adjacent to Atlantic Suites Hotel as part of the $50 million upgrade. A pedestrian bridge will connect the new construction to the existing building, creating a unified Hyatt Regency Georgetown Guyana. The expanded hotel will feature 240 guestrooms
and suites, a signature restaurant and market, a lobby and rooftop bar, and dedicated meeting and event spaces. This configuration aims to serve business, leisure, and group travelers more effectively.
Hyatt Place Georgetown Guyana to Join Hyatt Portfolio by Late 2026
Separately, Hyatt Place Georgetown Guyana is scheduled to join Hyatt’s portfolio later in 2026. This property will offer 136 modern guestrooms, a rooftop bar, an outdoor pool, and complimentary breakfast, diversifying Hyatt’s accommodation options in Guyana and expanding its presence in the Latin America and Caribbean region.
Statements on Growth and Opportunity in Guyana
Cristiano Gonçalves, Vice President of Development for South America & the Caribbean at Hyatt, said the Guyana debut “represents an exciting milestone in
our strategic growth across the Latin America and the Caribbean.” He emphasized the opportunities driven by the country’s expanding economy and international travel demand. Robert Badal, CEO of RJR Investments & Holdings Inc., stated, “Guyana is experiencing an extraordinary period of growth and international interest, making this the ideal time to introduce the Hyatt brand to the country.” He also highlighted the intention to build on Pegasus Hotel’s longstanding presence and showcase Guyana’s hospitality and culture.
Regional Strategy and Loyalty Program Integration
Hyatt’s affiliation with Atlantic Suites Hotel aligns with its strategy to enter emerging markets in Latin America and the Caribbean by partnering with established
local entities. Upon its transition to a Hyatt Regency in 2028, the property will join the World of Hyatt loyalty program, allowing members to earn and redeem points for stays, dining, and wellness experiences. As of June 30, 2026, Hyatt operates more than 1,500 hotels in 83 countries.
