Hotel101 Global, a subsidiary of Philippine-listed DoubleDragon Corporation, has signed binding agreements to develop a 750-room hotel in Greater Cairo, Egypt. The project, announced on October 20, 2026, is valued at EGP 5.465 billion (USD 102.09 million, PHP 6.44 billion) and marks Hotel101’s entry into the African hospitality market.
Partnership and Location Details
The planned Hotel101-Cairo West will be built on a 15,984-square-meter site in Hay Al Ashgar along Ahmed Zewail Road within 6th of October City, Giza. The location is approximately 10 minutes from the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum. WNTR Property & Hospitality, an affiliate of IGI Holding, is the
countrywide development partner for the project.
IGI Group, led by the Sheta family since 1942, operates businesses in textile, food and beverage, hospitality, real estate, and other sectors. The group’s experience in real estate development supports the hotel’s establishment in West Cairo, a district characterized by modern infrastructure and expanding residential and commercial zones.
Hotel101’s Business Model and Expansion Strategy
Hotel101 operates on an asset-light, technology-driven condotel model, offering standardized condominium-hotel units designed for efficient expansion. The brand currently manages two properties in the Philippines: a 518-room hotel in Manila and a 606-room hotel in Fort Bonifacio.
Its first international hotel, a 680-room property in Madrid,
Spain, commenced operations in March 2026. A 482-room hotel in Niseko, Hokkaido, Japan, is scheduled to open in December 2026. Hotel101 aims to reach one million uniform rooms across 100 countries, primarily through licensing its business model.
Hotel Facilities and Accessibility
Hotel101-Cairo West will provide four-star accommodations at affordable prices. Planned amenities include modern guest rooms, a ballroom, meeting venues, a conference center, all-day dining, 24-hour reception, swimming pools, a full-size gym, a business center, children’s playground, parking, and luggage storage.
The hotel site benefits from proximity to major transportation routes, including El Wahat Road, Cairo Ring Road, and Sphinx International Airport, improving access
for both domestic and international travelers targeting the Giza Pyramids and nearby cultural landmarks.
Strategic Vision and Market Context
Egypt’s population is estimated at approximately 118 million, with nearly 19 million tourists reported in 2025 by government sources, providing a sizeable market for the hotel. Hotel101 describes the Egypt project as its first major Filipino hotel brand extension into Africa.
DoubleDragon Corporation holds total assets of PHP 246.04 billion and sees Hotel101’s international expansion as a significant source of U.S. dollar inflows into the Philippine economy. The company envisions building Hotel101 into a global hospitality brand operating across multiple countries with strong recurring revenue generation
from overseas operations.
