FlightAware recorded 1,331 delays and 59 cancellations for flights into or out of the United States as of 10 a.m. EST on November 7, 2026. These disruptions are affecting operations at several major U.S. airports.

Airports Impacted by Weather Conditions

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) attributed the delays and cancellations mainly to thunderstorms and low clouds. Affected airports include Boston Logan International (BOS); New York’s John F. Kennedy (JFK), LaGuardia (LGA), and Newark Liberty (EWR); Philadelphia International (PHL); and the Washington, D.C. area’s Ronald Reagan National (DCA), Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall (BWI), and Dulles International (IAD). Low clouds may also disrupt flights at Charlotte Douglas

International Airport (CLT).

Travel Guidance During Disruption

Travelers facing delays or cancellations are advised to check flight status regularly through airline websites or apps and enable notifications for gate changes, delays, and cancellations. Carrying essential items in hand luggage is recommended to facilitate extended wait times. Reviewing airline refund and rebooking policies is also advised in case of extended delays or cancellations.

Eryn Gordon, founder of Earth to Editorial and a TedX speaker on ethical and responsible travel, emphasized strategic planning amid cancellations: “A cancellation feels like chaos, but the travelers who come out of it best treat a disruption as a planning problem

rather than an emergency. Screenshot the rebooking policy before you leave the house.” Gordon warned against hastily accepting the first available alternative, saying, “The trap is thinking speed is everything and grabbing the first seat offered, when that seat can strand you in a connecting airport overnight with your bag on another aircraft.”

Global Flight Disruption Overview

Worldwide, over 11,413 flights were delayed and 548 canceled as of 10 a.m. EST on November 7, 2026, illustrating the scale of travel interruptions beyond the U.S. These figures come from FlightAware, a real-time flight tracking service that monitors global flight delay and cancellation statistics daily in

real time.
