The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has implemented ground stop orders affecting American Airlines’ six principal hubs throughout the United States. These directives have temporarily halted departures from these key locations, putting a pause on several scheduled flights.
As a direct consequence of the FAA’s ground stops, American Airlines is currently experiencing an unprecedented level of flight cancellations, reported to be the highest worldwide among carriers since the measures took effect. This disruption represents a significant operational challenge for the airline across its major U.S. airports.
These ground stops and the resulting cancellations began impacting travelers starting June 13, 2026. Passengers
at the six hubs are facing notable travel delays and cancellations, complicating plans for a broad segment of American Airlines’ domestic operations.
