Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport currently provides nonstop service to more than a dozen popular U.S. cities and is preparing for future growth with plans to add two additional gates and a new parking deck. The expansion aims to support increased passenger demand without causing congestion in existing facilities, according to airport leadership.
Airport Facilities and Passenger Experience
The airport features a light tunnel connecting concourses A, B, and C that includes moving walkways, colorful lighting effects, and Motown music. This design supports a smooth flow of passengers while highlighting Chattanooga’s cultural heritage. Travelers can also visit the Motown Museum and the “Journey Through Rhythm & Time”
exhibit, which is open through September 27.
Popular Nonstop Destinations and Arrival Amenities
Among the key destinations served nonstop from Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport are New York’s LaGuardia Airport, Chicago’s O’Hare International, Houston’s Hobby Airport, Denver International Airport, and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
LaGuardia features a 450-foot-long skybridge that stands 65 feet above the tarmac, offering views of aircraft and the city skyline. O’Hare displays a replica Brachiosaurus dinosaur from Chicago’s Field Museum near the arrivals area to welcome passengers.
Houston’s Hobby Airport hosts The Rustic restaurant, known for its Texas hot chicken and cheese sandwich on Texas toast. Denver International offers outdoor fire pits with
views of the runway, as well as seasonal ice skating, yoga, and Pilates classes. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport includes Curiosity Runway, an aviation-themed play area designed for children.
Airport Leadership on Growth and Service
April Cameron, President and CEO of Chattanooga Airport, emphasized that nonstop flights improve travel speed and convenience for passengers. She added that while the airport’s planned growth does not necessarily mean new flights will be announced immediately, the preparations will enable expansion without overburdening current facilities.
She said, “The importance of nonstop flights is that they provide passengers with faster, more convenient access to their destinations.” She also noted, “Our planned
growth … doesn’t mean we necessarily have new flights to announce, but it positions us to be ready for an expansion without making our current facilities congested.”

By providing direct nonstop routes to major hubs, Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport allows travelers to avoid transiting through larger airports such as Atlanta or Charlotte. This approach reduces travel time and simplifies connectivity to national destinations.
