On November 3, 2026, voters in Charlotte and Collier counties, Florida, will cast ballots on tax-related referendums. Charlotte County is considering a sales tax extension, while Collier County faces a choice on boosting the tourist lodging tax.

Charlotte County Sales Tax Extension Proposal

Charlotte County voters will decide whether to extend the current 1% local sales tax for an additional 20 years. If approved, the funds generated would support projects across schools, public safety, infrastructure, utilities, and quality of life initiatives within the county.

Collier County Tourist Lodging Tax Increase

Collier County’s referendum proposes increasing the tourist lodging tax from 5% to 6%. According to Collier County officials, revenue from the tax

increase would be allocated to tourism promotion, infrastructure improvements, and other authorized uses aimed at supporting the local tourism sector.

If the tax increase passes in Collier County, visitors paying for lodging will face higher taxes. The measure represents an effort to increase funding sources from both residents and tourists to bolster public services and tourism infrastructure in the two counties.
