Cathay Pacific and Google are increasing the scope of their artificial intelligence trial designed to reduce aircraft contrails, which contribute to climate change. The two companies have been collaborating to apply AI technology to minimize contrail formation from flights.
The expanded AI trial is scheduled to begin in September 2026. The project builds on earlier cooperation between Cathay Pacific and Google aimed at optimizing flight paths to lower the environmental impact of contrails, targeting a reduction in climate-warming effects caused by aviation operations.
