California High-Speed Rail Board Approves New Business Plan

The California High-Speed Rail Authority board approved a new business plan in June 2026 that includes a proposal to relocate the downtown Merced station. This approval represents one of the latest steps in the development of the state’s high-speed rail project.

Proposal to Move Downtown Merced Station

As outlined in the approved business plan, there is a suggestion to shift the station currently located in downtown Merced to a different site. While specific details about the new location or timeline have not been disclosed, the move is intended to align with broader project development goals and to improve the rail network’s overall efficiency and connectivity.

The

decision to consider moving the Merced station marks a continued effort by the California High-Speed Rail Authority to adapt and refine the project as it progresses. Further information about the relocation is anticipated as plans develop.
