
The California High-Speed Rail Authority recently granted a contract valued at $3.5 billion to a consortium led by Kiewit. This contract covers the installation of track and railway systems for the Central Valley portion of the state’s high-speed rail project.
Included in the scope of work is the installation of electrified track, an essential component in advancing the construction of the rail line in this key region. The Central Valley segment constitutes a significant stage in the rail line’s development.
The contract award was announced in early June 2026. At this time, no immediate impacts on travelers have been reported
related to this contract. The announcement marks the formal start of track and systems installation activities for this portion of the network.
