Sydney Metro has recorded over 130 million journeys since August 2024, with weekday ridership exceeding 291,000. Expansion projects including the Bankstown extension, Metro West and the Western Sydney Airport line are advancing, introducing new automated trains and enhanced connectivity.

The Parliamentary Budget Office estimates the Alto high-speed rail project between Toronto and Montreal could cost between $75 billion and $113 billion, above earlier estimates. Construction is expected to start in 2030, with economic benefits including up to 9,000 jobs and increased GDP by 2033.

Southeastern cancelled multiple train services after bedbugs were found in drivers' cabs on 22 September 2026. Affected trains were removed from service for cleaning and treatment.
