American Cruise Lines held the christening ceremony for its new vessel, the American Ranger, on September 24, 2026. The event took place on the Hudson River at Historic Catskill Point in Catskill, New York, and was attended by passengers on the inaugural cruise, crew members, and company executives.

American Ranger Ship Specifications and Amenities

The American Ranger is a Patriot Class ship featuring four decks with capacity for 130 passengers. The cabins include private balconies, single cabins, and suites. The ship offers multiple lounges, including an upper-deck lounge equipped with a walking track. Additional facilities on board include a chart room, main restaurant, casual café, fitness

center, and laundry services, amenities not commonly found on smaller vessels in its class.

2026 Hudson River Cruise Itinerary and Schedule

The christening coincided with the start of the American Ranger’s inaugural nine-day Hudson River fall foliage cruise, which ran from September 18 to September 26, 2026. This itinerary includes stops at Catskill, West Point, Sleepy Hollow, and Kingston/Hyde Park, between New York City and Albany. The 2026 Hudson River cruises are nearly sold out, with the final voyage scheduled to depart on October 25, 2026.

American Cruise Lines Fleet Expansion Plans for 2027

American Cruise Lines plans to introduce three additional new ships in 2027: the American Mariner, American Navigator, and American Anthem. The

2027 Hudson River cruises will operate between Albany and New York City, starting in June for the summer season and resuming in September for fall foliage cruises.

Company Statements and Executive Quotes

Charles B. Robertson, president and CEO of American Cruise Lines, said: “We are thrilled to christen the American Ranger together with our passengers and crew, surrounded by the magnificent autumn scenery of the Hudson River Valley.” Robertson added, “Today, American Ranger assumes the title of the nation’s newest cruise ship, though it won’t hold it for long, as three more new ships will quickly follow in 2027.” Susan Renner, longtime treasurer and board

chair of American Cruise Lines, served as godmother to the American Ranger. She also holds the same role for the sister ship, American Maverick.

Traveler Benefits and Hudson River Cruise Experience

Passengers on the American Ranger gain access to new Hudson River cruise itineraries featuring key stops such as Catskill, West Point, Sleepy Hollow, and Kingston/Hyde Park. The ship’s amenities, including private balcony cabins, lounges, fitness center, and varied dining venues, enhance the cruising experience. The fall cruises provide opportunities for guided excursions that highlight the Hudson River Valley’s renowned autumn foliage and historic landmarks.

Hudson River Tourism and Cruise Industry Context

American Cruise Lines remains the only company offering overnight river cruises on

the Hudson River. The Hudson River Valley attracts visitors annually for its vivid fall foliage and historically significant sites, such as West Point and the Vanderbilt Mansion. The company’s expansion with multiple new ships emphasizes its strategy to increase river cruising capacity on this iconic route.
