Persistent heavy rain and thunderstorms in the Northeast corridor on November 7, 2026, caused low visibility and localized ponding on roadways, disrupting airport operations across the tri-state area despite daytime temperatures in the mid to upper 60s.

The FAA’s National Airspace System Status tracker reported as of 7:00 a.m. EST that John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and LaGuardia Airport (LGA) had ground stops active through at least 8:00 a.m. EST to throttle arrivals amid thunderstorm activity and ensure safety.

At LaGuardia, departure and arrival delays averaged around 30 minutes due to traffic management and weather reroutes, while Teterboro Airport

(TEB) in New Jersey experienced departure delays averaging 15 minutes and increasing early on November 7.

The FAA noted potential for further delay programs or ground stops after 12:00 p.m. EST at Boston Logan (BOS), Newark Liberty (EWR), Philadelphia (PHL), Washington Dulles (IAD), Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA), and Baltimore/Washington International (BWI) airports. However, FlightAware status checked at 7:30 a.m. EST showed no significant delays or cancellations at these hubs yet.

Travelers at Northeast corridor airports on November 7 are advised to check flight status directly with their carriers before traveling due to ongoing weather disruptions and operational adjustments.
