World Travel Market London 2026 took place from November 3 to 5 at ExCeL London amid geopolitical uncertainties and changing priorities in tourism investment. The event featured expanded programming in travel technology and introduced paid visitor registration from the start of booking.

China Expands Pavilion and Participation

China increased its exhibition pavilion at WTM London 2026 by approximately 22% compared to 2025. More than 100 Chinese tourism enterprises and organizations participated, signaling a strategic emphasis on sustaining international travel-trade relations despite geopolitical and economic tensions.

Middle East and North Africa Exhibitor Presence

The Middle East and North Africa were represented by around 450 exhibitors across four dedicated exhibition halls. The United Arab

Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt had significant representation. Qatar attended with a delegation of 40 partners, marking its 12th consecutive year at WTM London. Saudi Arabia’s tourism authority and UAE tourism companies maintained a strong presence despite regional challenges.

European and US Country Participation

Italy’s national tourism agency ENIT covered over 2,000 square meters at WTM London 2026, showcasing 15 regions and eight institutions. Spain, Portugal, and Türkiye also had strong exhibitor showings. In comparison, Germany, France, and the United States had more modest exhibitor participation, reflecting varying promotional strategies rather than a simple reduction in investment.

Egypt Named Premier Partner Amid Tourism Growth

Egypt was designated Premier Partner for WTM London

2026. The country welcomed nearly 19 million international visitors in 2025, a 21% increase from 2024. Egypt’s significant role highlights continued commitment to international tourism promotion despite regional geopolitical uncertainties.

Industry discussions focused on networking, destination presentations, product launches, and meetings with international buyers. Expanded travel technology programming was showcased alongside the new paid visitor registration policy implemented at the event.

WTM London 2026 illustrated ongoing shifts in how countries allocate tourism promotional spending. While some traditional tourism powers reassess spending on large pavilions, others invest more aggressively in global visibility through exhibitions. The event underscored the contrast between long-term

destination branding by national tourism boards and the immediate business results sought by smaller tourism enterprises.

WTM London remains a key platform to observe changes in global tourism geography and the strategies governments use to maintain influence in the international travel market.
