United Airlines will introduce three new international routes from Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) starting later this year and into early 2027. The new destinations include Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Mexico; Cartagena, Colombia; and Caracas, Venezuela.

New International Service Launch Dates and Delays

The carrier will begin flights to Tuxtla Gutiérrez, the capital of Chiapas, in Mexico later in October 2026. This route will be the city’s only nonstop international connection. United plans to commence service to Cartagena in December 2026. Flights to Caracas are scheduled to start in January 2027, delayed from an original August 2026 target due to significant earthquake damage at Caracas’ Simón Bolívar International

Airport.

Terminal Expansion Supports Increased Operations

The route expansion coincides with the opening of the Terminal B North Concourse at Houston Bush. This new 765,000-square-foot facility has 22 gates and houses a 54,000-square-foot United Club lounge, the largest airline lounge in the Americas, enhancing passenger amenities for United customers.

United Airlines is also planning to resume flights between Houston and Chihuahua, Mexico, in spring 2027, though no official launch date or further details have been released.

These expansions increase United’s international connectivity from Houston Bush airport, providing travelers with new options to key destinations in Mexico, Colombia, and Venezuela as part of the airline’s broader

strategy to strengthen its Texas operations.
