On October 27, 2026, flight disruptions escalated across the United States with FlightAware reporting 1,886 delays and 52 cancellations for flights within, into, or out of the country as of 6:45 p.m. EDT.

Low cloud conditions threatened operations at several major airports, including Denver International Airport, San Diego International Airport, and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA noted these low clouds could cause flight delays but did not assign weather as the sole factor for all delays and cancellations reported.

Airlines typically adjust schedules throughout the day in response to a combination of weather, air

traffic volume, aircraft availability, and crew scheduling. On the morning of October 27, FlightAware recorded approximately 800 U.S.-related delays and 32 cancellations before these numbers increased in the evening.

FlightAware also provided worldwide statistics showing over 12,000 delays and 730 cancellations on October 27. The FAA’s National Airspace System dashboard offers real-time updates on airport constraints and traffic-management programs, while travelers are advised to allow additional time and monitor flight status before arriving at affected airports.
