Sunday PropTech, the hospitality investment arm of Indian group Prism, announced on 26 October 2026 its acquisition of Fletcher Hotels, the largest hotel chain in the Netherlands. The deal includes 170 hotels composed of 130 owned and operated properties and 40 partner hotels across the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. The acquisition was completed with Fletcher’s management team and independent investment company Egeria as sellers.
Fletcher Hotels’ Growth and Ownership History
Established in 1997, Fletcher Hotels has expanded aggressively, completing over 60 acquisitions in the past decade. In 2016, backed by NIBC and Xead Group, Fletcher executed a management buyout operating 73 hotels at the time. By
2021, the chain had grown to 103 hotels when Egeria acquired a majority stake. Fletcher operates affordable leisure stays primarily in three- and four-star hotels located in coastal, urban, and rural locations. The company employs approximately 5,800 people. During Egeria’s ownership, significant investments were made to improve the organisation, real estate portfolio, and technology platforms to enhance the guest experience.
Prism’s European Expansion Through Strategic Acquisitions
This acquisition follows Sunday PropTech’s acquisition of a significant stake in Amsterdam-based boutique hotel group Sircle Collection two months prior. Prism, renamed from Oravel Stays in September 2025, owns several brands including budget hotel brand Oyo, Motel 6, Studio 6,
Sunday Hotels, and vacation rental platform Belvilla. The company has expanded in Europe over several years, recently opening three hotels in Germany and its first hotel in Belgium in early 2026.
Dutch Hotel Investment Market Context
The acquisition occurs amid a sharp decline in Dutch hotel investment volumes due to pricing uncertainties and international investors favoring other European markets with better returns and tax conditions. Hotel investment volume in Dutch hotels dropped from €625 million in Q3 2025 to €224 million in Q3 2026. In the first half of 2026, only six hotel deals closed in the Netherlands worth approximately €56 million, an 86% decline
year-over-year.
Official Statements and Deal Advisors
Mark Wetzels, senior partner at Egeria, said the acquisition was an “important step in Sunday PropTech’s expansion in Europe.” He stated, “During this period, we have invested significantly in the organisation, real estate portfolio and technology platform, all with the aim of continuously enhancing the guest experience.” Wetzels added, “With this strong foundation in place, I believe Sunday PropTech and its shareholders are the ideal partners to support Fletcher in its next phase of growth.” A Sunday PropTech spokesperson said, “Fletcher has built a strong business and a well-recognized brand in the Netherlands. We look forward to working with
its management team to support the next phase of growth.”
Rothschild & Co advised Fletcher Hotels on the acquisition. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
