Carnival Cruise Lines announced it will adopt a dynamic pricing model for onboard drink and Wi-Fi packages beginning December 1, 2026. This adjustment marks a shift from fixed rates to prices that vary depending on cruise details.

The new pricing will reflect factors such as the length of the cruise, the itinerary selected, and the seasonal timing of the sailing. Carnival aims to align package prices more closely with demand fluctuations and the type of cruise booked by passengers.

FunPacks Offer Bundled Amenities and Discounts

Carnival is launching “FunPacks,” which bundle drink and Wi-Fi packages alongside excursion discounts, specialty dining, and spa treatment offers. These bundles

range from $25 to $99 per person per day. FunPacks are available for booking until October 30, 2026, for sailings departing between October 31, 2026, and December 31, 2027.

Customer Concerns and Industry Context

Cruise influencer Tony Barnette expressed concerns about dynamic pricing creating variable charges for the same service aboard the same sailing. He questioned whether the price paid for a drink package could differ between passengers on identical cruises and emphasized the need for greater transparency in pricing.

Current Carnival drink packages are priced between $6.95 and $124 per day, while Wi-Fi plans cost from $20.40 to $25.50 per person per day. The

cruise line has not disclosed anticipated price ranges under the new model but indicated prices may rise during peak season.

Carnival’s Pricing Rationale and AAA Projections

Carnival said dynamic pricing “allows us to better align pricing with the type of cruise a guest books while providing greater flexibility and reflecting seasonal demand.” The company also assured that once a package is purchased, the price is locked and will not change despite later pricing adjustments.

AAA projects a record 22.4 million Americans will take ocean cruises in 2027, indicating growing demand in the U.S. cruise market. Dynamic pricing, already used in airlines, hotels, and ride-share services like

Uber, aims to maximize revenue based on supply and demand variables.
