Hotel101 Global has signed binding agreements to develop a 750-room hotel in Greater Cairo, Egypt, in a project estimated at EGP 5.465 billion (USD 102.09 million). The announcement was made on October 20, 2026, marking Hotel101’s first expansion into the African market.
The planned Hotel101-Cairo West will be located on a 15,984-square-meter (1.60-hectare) site in Hay Al Ashgar along Ahmed Zewail Road in the 6th of October City, Giza. The site is approximately a 10-minute drive from the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum. The hotel is expected to rank among the three largest in Cairo by room count.
The hotel will offer four-star amenities with a range of facilities designed for business and leisure travelers. Planned features include a ballroom, multiple meeting spaces, a conference center, modern guest rooms, 24-hour reception, all-day dining options, swimming pools, a full-size gym, a business center, children’s playground, parking facilities, and luggage storage.
Hotel101’s expansion into Egypt is supported by WNTR Property & Hospitality, an affiliate of IGI Holding, acting as the countrywide development partner. IGI Group, led by the Sheta family since 1942, has diversified interests spanning hospitality, real estate, and other industries. Its property arm, IGI Developments, manages integrated residential
projects with a land portfolio of approximately 2.5 million square meters and over 40,000 residents.
Hotel101 Global Holdings Corp., trading on Nasdaq under ticker HBNB, is a subsidiary of Philippine-listed DoubleDragon Corporation (stock symbol DD). Hotel101 operates existing hotels in Manila and Fort with room capacities of 518 and 606 respectively. It opened its first overseas property, Hotel101-Madrid with 680 rooms, in March 2026. Another property, Hotel101-Niseko in Hokkaido, Japan (482 rooms), is scheduled to open in December 2026.
Hotel101’s business model is a technology-supported, asset-light condotel platform that it plans to export internationally. The Egypt hotel project marks the
brand’s entry into Africa as part of its strategy to establish 1 million uniform rooms in 100 countries, mainly through licensing. The hotel’s location provides access to El Wahat Road, Cairo Ring Road, Sphinx International Airport, and Greater Cairo’s road network, serving growing residential, commercial, and tourism areas in West Cairo.
Egypt, with an estimated population of 118 million people and nearly 19 million tourist arrivals in 2025, offers a strong market for hospitality development. Hotel101 aims to provide affordable, high-quality accommodation near key cultural landmarks such as the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum.
The project remains subject
to customary governmental, regulatory, and corporate approvals. The timeline for construction and completion has not been specified, but the company targets a completion date in 2029. Hotel101’s move into Egypt is viewed by its parent company DoubleDragon as a potential significant source of U.S. dollar inflows to the Philippine economy.
