Delta Air Lines announced the launch of daily nonstop service between Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Reykjavík Airport (KEF), Iceland, effective April 12 through October 30, 2027. The route will be operated on Boeing 757-200 aircraft featuring Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort, and Delta Main cabins. Reykjavík marks Delta’s 14th long-haul summer destination and 16th international destination from Boston.

Expansion of Boston’s European Network

In addition to the Iceland route, Delta is adding four-times-weekly nonstop service from Boston to Venice starting May 7 through October 29, 2027, using Airbus A330-300 aircraft with Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort, and Delta Main cabins. Venice

becomes Delta’s 13th unique long-haul summer destination from Boston and its 12th destination in continental Europe. Concurrently, Delta will increase Boston-to-Milan service to daily in 2027, boosting nonstop options to Italy to more than 30,000 weekly seats across up to 17 peak-day departures.

New Detroit and Austin European Routes

Delta will begin three-times-weekly nonstop flights between Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) and Athens starting June 8 through October 28, 2027. The Airbus A330-200 aircraft servicing this route will offer Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort, and Delta Main cabins. This is Detroit’s first nonstop service to Athens and establishes DTW as Delta’s fourth U.S.

gateway to the Greek capital.

Additionally, daily nonstop service between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) will launch March 27, 2027, marking Austin’s first nonstop flights to Paris. Airbus A330-900neo aircraft will be used on this route, providing multiple cabin options including Delta One and Delta Premium Select.

Extended 2027 Transatlantic Season and Seasonal Services

Delta is extending its transatlantic operating season in 2027 by starting several routes earlier in spring or continuing later into fall and winter. Seasonal service from Minneapolis-St. Paul and Detroit to Rome will commence in early March 2027, with Seattle to Rome beginning in April. New York-JFK flights to

Catania, Porto, Prague, and Copenhagen will also start earlier. Detroit-Rome and New York-JFK-Copenhagen routes will operate daily once resumed. Cincinnati to Paris service will continue three times weekly from January through March 2027. These changes provide travelers with increased flexibility for travel across different seasons.

Strategic Growth in European Connectivity

Delta’s addition of the Boston-Reykjavík route builds on its longstanding transatlantic network, which began with nonstop service between New York-JFK and Reykjavík in June 2011. Boston’s status as Delta’s closest U.S. hub to Europe makes it a strategic base to expand European destinations. The airline also partners with carriers such as Air France, KLM, and

Virgin Atlantic, providing customers access to hundreds of European destinations through connecting flights.

Official Statements on Network Expansions

Jeff Arinder, Delta’s Vice President of International Network Planning, said, “Customers continue to seek more flexibility, convenience and choice when traveling to Europe, whether they are planning a spring escape, a summer vacation or a fall getaway. By adding new European destinations from Detroit and Boston, establishing Austin as a new gateway to Europe and extending service on several popular routes, we’re giving customers more choice, greater flexibility and more opportunities to travel when and how they want.”

Sharon Williams, Massport’s Executive Director of Aviation, stated, “Italy

continues to be an incredibly popular destination for New England travelers, and we are excited to add Venice to our growing list of international destinations. This new service provides our passengers with another opportunity to experience Italy’s incredible culture, history and tourism while strengthening the ties between our two regions. We’re grateful to Delta for continuing to invest in Boston and expand choices for our passengers.”

Chad Newton, Wayne County Airport Authority CEO, said, “For the first time at DTW, travelers in Southeast Michigan will have nonstop access to Athens, one of the world’s most iconic destinations. We appreciate Delta

Air Lines’ continued investment in Detroit and are excited about the new opportunities this service will create for tourism, business and cultural connections.”
