EXPO 2027 will be hosted in Belgrade, Serbia, aiming to generate new business opportunities for both Serbia and North Macedonia. A Visit Serbia B2B Networking event took place in Skopje on 8 October 2026, gathering over 50 representatives from the business and tourism sectors of the two countries. This event, part of the international Visit Serbia roadshow, focused on fostering regional economic cooperation linked to the upcoming EXPO.
North Macedonia’s Participation Highlights
North Macedonia will showcase its presence at EXPO 2027 Belgrade through a national pavilion themed “All Rhythms of the Sun.” The pavilion is set to feature elements of the country’s music, gastronomy,
wine, tourism, culture, and creative industries, aiming to present a diverse cultural profile to international attendees. This participation adds a regional dimension to EXPO 2027, facilitating economic, cultural, and tourism cooperation between neighboring countries.
Volunteer Engagement and Business Programs
More than 16,000 volunteer applications have been submitted for EXPO 2027 Belgrade, including 850 from North Macedonia. Danilo Jerinić, CEO of EXPO 2027 Belgrade, noted the significant interest, stating, “I am particularly pleased by the strong interest in our volunteer programme. Our volunteers will be the welcoming face of the Expo – the people who will greet the world in Belgrade next year.” He further invited
North Macedonia’s business and tourism communities to participate in making EXPO 2027 a shared regional opportunity.
The EXPO 2027 business agenda comprises six thematic business forums, a two-day Global Business and Technology Summit, over 250 bilateral business events, and more than 50,000 expected business meetings. A specially designed digital B2B platform will enable companies to identify potential partners and schedule meetings prior to the event.
Tourism Growth and Regional Cooperation
The Visit Serbia B2B Networking event emphasized building cooperation between Serbia’s and North Macedonia’s tourism sectors. Discussions targeted the creation of joint travel itineraries to encourage tourists to visit both countries in a combined trip.
From January to July 2026, 82,047 tourists from North Macedonia visited Serbia, marking a 22% increase compared to the same period in 2025. This rise underscores strengthening tourism exchanges that support expanded bilateral cooperation.
