The Rimrock Resort Hotel in Banff, Canada, officially reopened on October 5, 2026, after completing a $115 million property-wide transformation. Following the renovation, the hotel joined Accor’s Emblems Collection, marking Accor’s first luxury five-star property in North America within this grouping.
Room Redesign and Architectural Approach
The extensive redesign includes 320 guest rooms with 57 suites now offering floor plans and furnishings designed to emphasize panoramic mountain views. The resort’s largest accommodation is the infinity two-bedroom suite, featuring a wraparound terrace exceeding 1,260 square feet, complete with a barrel sauna and fire table. California-based Studio Collective led the redesign, integrating floor-to-ceiling windows, natural materials, and
bespoke artwork inspired by the Canadian Rockies. According to Rimrock Banff general manager David Garcelon, the renovation aimed to make the resort inseparable from its mountain landscape.
New Wellness and Fitness Facilities
The renovation introduced a 9,600-square-foot hydrothermal wellness bathhouse, Banff’s first luxury hydrothermal facility. The bathhouse contains indoor and outdoor thermal installations such as vitality and hot pools, a mountain-facing infinity pool, saunas, an aromatic steam room, cold plunges, a suspended meditation room, and a sensory room. Adjacent to the bathhouse, the resort added a 3,800-square-foot Movement Center featuring fitness equipment, climbing and bouldering walls, guided classes, and recovery services aimed at enhancing physical
wellness.
Culinary Venues Emphasizing Local Ingredients
Rimrock Banff now offers four distinct dining venues designed to highlight regional cuisine and ingredients. These include Parker’s Table, the signature restaurant serving seasonal dishes influenced by northern Canadian landscapes. Rimrock Social provides a communal spot for coffee, food, and cocktails, while The Listening Room offers an intimate wine and spirits experience paired with vinyl music. Rimrock Market features specialty coffee and mountain-inspired provisions. The culinary program incorporates locally sourced Alberta honey into various foods and beverages, including a signature arrival drink and wellness tonics.
Personalized Outdoor Experiences
The resort’s dedicated Expeditions Centre designs customized Rocky Mountain adventures for guests, offering more
than 50 seasonal outdoor activities. Options range from guided hikes, forest bathing, alpine yoga, canyon ice walks, and Indigenous cultural experiences to excursions to Athabasca Glacier. The centre also provides northern lights wake-up calls when conditions permit, allowing guests unique engagement with Banff’s natural environment.
Built into a mountainside overlooking Banff National Park, Rimrock Banff remains intertwined with its natural setting. General manager David Garcelon said, “The resort, across the decades of its history, has always been defined by its remarkable setting. This transformation was guided by a simple philosophy: create a resort that feels inseparable from the landscape itself.”
