
International visits to Hanoi increased by 22% during the first nine months of 2026, reaching approximately 6.67 million foreign arrivals by the end of September. Among these, about 4.7 million were staying visitors. Domestic tourism also grew, with 20.9 million domestic visitors recorded, representing a 2% rise year on year.
Accommodation Sector Records Strong Visitor Growth
Accommodation facilities in Hanoi served a total of 6.874 million visitors from January to September 2026, marking a 24.3% year-over-year increase. International guests staying at these establishments numbered around 4.763 million, a 25.7% rise compared to the previous year. Domestic visitors accounted for 2.111 million, increasing by 21.2% during the
same period.
Quarterly and Monthly Visitor Trends Show Gains
In the third quarter of 2026, accommodation venues hosted approximately 2.24 million visitors, which is a 2.4% increase from the second quarter and an 18.7% increase year on year. Domestic visitors reached 776,000 in Q3, up 14.3% from the previous year, while international visitors totaled 1.464 million, up 21.3%. In September alone, international visitor stays at accommodations rose 1.5% from August and showed an 18.8% increase compared to the same month in 2025, with about 500,000 foreign guests served.
Tourism Revenue and Official Outlook
Tourism revenue in Hanoi for the first nine months of 2026 was estimated at VND 113.2 trillion (US$4.3 billion),
representing a 13.3% growth over the previous year. Deputy Director Tran Trung Hieu of the Ha Noi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism reported sustained positive performance in both the third quarter and overall for the first nine months of 2026. The significant rise in international visitors contributed notably to Hanoi’s tourism sector expansion during this period.
