Southwest Airlines will begin operating three new nonstop routes from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to Nassau, Bahamas; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; and Liberia, Costa Rica starting in June 2027. These are the only nonstop connections available from Austin to these destinations.

The Nassau, Punta Cana, and Liberia flights will be seasonal, running twice weekly on Saturdays and Sundays from June 3 through August 2, 2027. This schedule caters to weekend travelers seeking direct flights to Caribbean and Central American locations during the summer season.

Tickets for these new nonstop flights are currently on sale. Alongside these international services, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport

will see seven new or returning Southwest routes, including domestic flights to Savannah, Georgia; Bozeman, Montana; Sarasota, Florida; and seasonal daily flights to Portland, Oregon.

Southwest Airlines also plans Saturday-only service from Austin to San José, Costa Rica starting March 13, 2027. The airline will resume service to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and San Juan, Puerto Rico as part of its 2027 schedule expansion through Austin.

Ghizlane Badawi, CEO of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, said, “Southwest Airlines has been a longstanding and important partner in the growth of air service at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. These new international routes to the Caribbean

and Central America, along with expanded domestic service, strengthen our region’s connectivity and provide more options for both business and leisure travelers.”

Southwest vice president of network planning Daniel Jones stated, “We are thrilled to bring this new service to Austin, where we have been the hometown carrier in the Texas state capital for nearly 50 years.”

The expanded schedule will boost Austin-Bergstrom International Airport’s activity, with Southwest projecting approximately 143 daily departures on peak days next summer, marking its largest presence at the airport to date. The seasonal weekend flights offer direct travel options and facilitate weekend vacations but

do not provide midweek departures for greater flexibility.
