Southwest Airlines will begin summer 2027 nonstop service from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) to Nassau, Bahamas; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; and Liberia, Costa Rica. These seasonal routes offer Austin’s only nonstop connections to these three destinations and will operate twice weekly on Saturdays and Sundays from June 3 through August 2, 2027.
Tickets for the new nonstop flights are currently available for purchase. The limited weekend-only schedule provides options mainly for weekend travelers and those planning vacations between early June and early August.
Expanded Route Network at Austin-Bergstrom
Along with the three new international routes, Austin-Bergstrom is adding seven new or returning routes overall, including
domestic flights to Savannah, Bozeman, and Sarasota. Daily seasonal service to Portland will also return. Southwest previously announced Saturday service from Austin to San José, Costa Rica commencing March 13, 2027, and will continue returning service to Puerto Vallarta and San Juan.
Official Statements on New Service
Ghizlane Badawi, CEO of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, commented, “Southwest Airlines has been a longstanding and important partner in the growth of air service at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. These new international routes to the Caribbean and Central America, along with expanded domestic service, strengthen our region’s connectivity and provide more options for both business and leisure travelers.”
Daniel Jones,
Southwest’s vice president of network planning, said, “We are thrilled to bring this new service to Austin, where we have been the hometown carrier in the Texas state capital for nearly 50 years.”
Southwest’s Expanding Presence in Austin
Southwest Airlines has operated at Austin-Bergstrom for nearly 50 years. The airline expects approximately 143 departures on peak days next summer, marking its largest schedule at the airport. The introduction of these new nonstop international routes reflects Southwest’s expanding footprint in Austin and its commitment to growing air service offerings at the airport.
