Flair Airlines will launch weekly nonstop flights between Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Guanajuato International Airport (BJX) starting October 3, 2026. This new air service establishes the first direct link between Canada and Mexico’s Bajío region, facilitating travel to central Mexican destinations including León, Guanajuato City, and San Miguel de Allende.

Route Details and Aircraft

The service will initially operate once per week using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. Guanajuato International Airport serves as a gateway for travelers to multiple cultural and historic cities in the Bajío region, eliminating the need for connections through major Mexican hubs such as Mexico City or Guadalajara.

Fare Introduction and Tourism Focus

At

the route’s announcement, Flair Airlines offered introductory one-way fares starting from $189. The route prioritizes tourism access to central Mexico’s cultural landmarks. Passengers arriving at BJX airport can easily reach well-known destinations such as San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato City, León, and Dolores Hidalgo by land.

Canadian Visitor Statistics and Regional Attractions

According to Guanajuato state authorities, over 108,000 Canadian tourists visited the state annually before this route was established. Regional attractions promoted to Canadian travelers include gastronomy, vineyards, historic urban centers, and various cultural tourism opportunities.

Travel Convenience and Limitations

The new nonstop flight streamlines travel from Canada to Mexico’s Bajío region by removing the need for layovers in

Mexican hubs. However, the initial weekly frequency limits scheduling flexibility; passengers missing the flight may face delays or must seek connections through alternative airports in Mexico or the United States.
