American Cruise Lines officially christened the American Ranger on September 24, 2026, at Historic Catskill Point in Catskill, New York. The ceremony included passengers on the inaugural cruise, crew members, and company executives. Susan Renner, chair of the board of directors of American Cruise Lines and godmother to the ship, led the traditional bottle-breaking ritual.
Details of the American Ranger Vessel
The American Ranger is American Cruise Lines’ fourth Patriot Class ship and the third new vessel introduced by the company in 2026. It has four decks and accommodates up to 130 passengers in rooms equipped with private balconies. The accommodations include suites and single cabins.
Amenities include spacious lounges, an upper-deck lounge featuring a walking track, a chart room, a main restaurant, casual café, fitness center, and laundry facilities.
Inaugural Hudson River Cruise and Itinerary
The American Ranger’s christening coincided with its inaugural nine-day Hudson River fall foliage cruise, which ran from September 18 to 26, 2026. The trip departed from New York City and ended in Albany, New York. The river cruise includes stops in Catskill, West Point, Sleepy Hollow, and Kingston/Hyde Park. Passengers experience scenic autumn views of the Hudson River Valley and engage in guided excursions to cultural and historic sites along the route.
Fleet Expansion and Upcoming Ship Additions
American Cruise Lines is
continuing its fleet expansion with three new ships launched in 2026, including the American Ranger. The company plans to introduce three additional vessels in 2027: two sister ships named American Mariner and American Navigator, both of the Patriot Class, plus the American Anthem riverboat. According to Charles B. Robertson, president and CEO of American Cruise Lines, the American Ranger currently holds the title of the nation’s newest cruise ship but will be succeeded by these new ships in 2027.
2026 and 2027 Hudson River Cruise Operations and Highlights
American Cruise Lines operates the only overnight river cruises on the Hudson River, with itineraries between New York City and Albany.
The 2026 fall cruises are nearly sold out, with the last voyage departing on October 25, 2026. In 2027, the cruises will depart and return to Albany, incorporating stops and guided excursions in New York City. The 2027 Summer Classic cruises will begin in June, with fall foliage cruises resuming in September. Passengers visit numerous historic and cultural attractions such as the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library, Olana and Lyndhurst mansions, Whitecliff Vineyard, and participate in Sleepy Hollow’s Halloween festivities.
Official Remarks on American Ranger and Future Growth
Charles B. Robertson said, “We are thrilled to christen the American Ranger together with our passengers
and crew, surrounded by the magnificent autumn scenery of the Hudson River Valley.” He added, “Today, American Ranger assumes the title of the nation’s newest cruise ship, though it won’t hold it for long, as three more new ships will quickly follow in 2027.” The remarks underline the company’s commitment to expanding its river and coastal cruise offerings through continued vessel introductions.
