American Cruise Lines held the christening ceremony for the American Ranger on September 24, 2026, docked at Historic Catskill Point in Catskill, New York. The event involved passengers on the inaugural cruise, company executives, and crew celebrating on the ship’s upper deck with an outdoor meal and the traditional bottle-breaking ritual. Susan Renner, American Cruise Lines’ treasurer and chair of the board of directors, served as the American Ranger’s godmother during the ceremony.

American Ranger Ship Details and Amenities

The American Ranger is the third new vessel introduced by American Cruise Lines in 2026 and is the fourth ship in their Patriot Class series. It features

four decks and accommodates 130 passengers in cabins equipped with private balconies. The ship’s design includes single cabins and suites plus amenities uncommon on vessels of similar capacity. These include spacious lounges with an upper-deck lounge containing a walking track, a chart room, main dining restaurant, casual café, fitness center, and onboard laundry facilities.

Operational Hudson River Route and Excursion Highlights

The American Ranger operates cruises along the Hudson River between New York City and Albany, New York, with scheduled stops at Catskill, West Point, Sleepy Hollow, and Kingston/Hyde Park. The 2026 itineraries, now nearly sold out, feature guided excursions to regional landmarks. Highlights include visits to

the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library, Olana and Lyndhurst mansions, and Whitecliff Vineyard. Fall cruises provide seasonal activities such as apple tastings and Sleepy Hollow Halloween festivities. The inaugural nine-day fall foliage cruise commenced on September 18, 2026, starting with a hotel stay in New York City and concluding in Albany on September 26.

Fleet Expansion Plans for 2027

American Cruise Lines announced plans to introduce three additional new ships in 2027. Two will be Patriot Class sister ships named American Mariner and American Navigator, complementing the American Ranger. Additionally, a modern American Riverboat, the American Anthem, is scheduled for launch.

These expansions underline the company’s ongoing growth in river and coastal cruising.

Passenger Impact and Future Cruises

The addition of the American Ranger increases cruising options on the Hudson River, where American Cruise Lines currently offers the only overnight river cruises. The final 2026 cruise season voyage is set to depart on October 25. For 2027, itineraries will depart from and return to Albany while including stops and excursions in New York City. Summer Classic cruises will begin in June 2027, and fall foliage cruises will resume in September 2027, offering opportunities to view the New York City skyline and sail past the Statue of

Liberty.

Official Statements on the American Ranger Launch

Charles B. Robertson, president and CEO of American Cruise Lines, said, “We are thrilled to christen the American Ranger together with our passengers and crew, surrounded by the magnificent autumn scenery of the Hudson River Valley.” He also noted, “Today, American Ranger assumes the title of the nation’s newest cruise ship, though it won’t hold it for long, as three more new ships will quickly follow in 2027.” Susan Renner was honored to be the godmother to both the American Ranger and its sister ship American Maverick, which was christened earlier in 2026.
