Princess Cruises has launched the first global cruise line application powered by artificial intelligence, embedded natively within ChatGPT, the AI platform developed by OpenAI. This app connects customers to Princess Cruises’ real-time cruise booking and planning environment.

App Features Support Deep Cruise Planning

The app allows users to explore more than 330 cruise destinations served across 17 ships operated by Princess Cruises. Through conversational natural language input, travelers can check pricing and availability and plan their vacations interactively within ChatGPT. Users can refine their cruise search and pose detailed follow-up questions in a single chat session, including comparing itineraries or querying specific destinations, such as Alaska

cruises departing from Seattle that visit Glacier Bay National Park.

Partnerships and Official Statements

The AI-powered cruise discovery and planning tool was developed in partnership with OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT. Neena Vicente, Vice President of Digital Commerce and Experience at Princess Cruises, said the app positions the cruise line at the forefront of agentic commerce by providing a new channel for cruise discovery. Andrew Boch, CEO of Mobi, praised Princess Cruises’ foresight in integrating directly with large language models, predicting a competitive advantage as AI becomes a key travel channel. Rosemary DeAragon, Head of Technology & Consumer Industries at OpenAI, described the app

as a demonstration of how AI platforms and travel brands can jointly facilitate more seamless and conversational trip planning.

Generative AI’s Role in Evolving Travel Planning

The introduction of this AI-powered app responds to a broader trend of consumers using generative AI tools not just to retrieve information but to systematically evaluate options and organize complex trips. Princess Cruises’ integration into ChatGPT reflects its anticipatory approach to how AI will transform traveler engagement and the discovery of vacations. The technology provides a direct, conversational entry point to booking cruises within a large language model environment.
