Foreign arrivals in South Africa reached 1.01 million in August 2026, marking a 7.4% increase compared to August 2025, according to data published by Statistics South Africa on September 30, 2026.

Visitor arrivals for January to August 2026 totaled 7.57 million, up 11.5% year-on-year.

Growth was 12.5% year-on-year in July 2026.

According to Fitch Solutions, South Africa’s tourism sector is set for record-breaking performance in 2026 based on these trends.
