IndiGo will begin daily nonstop flights between Mumbai, India, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, starting November 20, 2026. The airline will be the only Indian carrier offering direct service on this route, subject to regulatory approvals.
Flight Schedule for Mumbai-Dar es Salaam Route
The Mumbai to Dar es Salaam flight will depart at 2:20 am and arrive at 6:05 am local time. The return service leaves Dar es Salaam at 7:05 am, reaching Mumbai by 3:55 pm. These daily flights aim to provide consistent connectivity between the two cities.
Economic and Strategic Factors Behind the Route Launch
The launch supports increasing trade and economic collaboration between India and Tanzania, with India counted among Tanzania’s largest
trading partners. Tanzania acts as a gateway to East Africa, and the enhanced air link is expected to facilitate business travel, trade, investments, tourism, and educational exchanges between the countries.
IndiGo’s Expansion in Africa and Official Commentary
According to Economic Times, IndiGo’s Chief Strategy Officer Aloke Singh indicated that the new route signifies the airline’s strategy to strengthen connections to fast-growing markets. Tanzania’s demand for travel is driven by trade, investment, tourism, and cultural ties, making the route commercially viable from IndiGo’s standpoint.
Currently, IndiGo operates direct flights from India to Nairobi in Kenya, as well as Mauritius and Seychelles. The Mumbai-Dar es Salaam service will further
broaden IndiGo’s presence and international footprint in Africa.
