IndiGo Starts Daily Direct Flights Between Mumbai and Dar es Salaam

IndiGo Begins Daily Mumbai-Dar es Salaam Flights Starting November 20

IndiGo announced on September 10, 2026, the launch of daily nonstop flights connecting Mumbai Airport in India with Dar es Salaam Airport in Tanzania starting November 20, 2026. The flight from Mumbai will depart at 2:20 am and reach Dar es Salaam at 6:05 am. The return flight leaves Dar es Salaam at 7:05 am and arrives in Mumbai at 3:55 pm. These operations are subject to regulatory approvals.

IndiGo’s Unique Role and African Network Expansion

This new route will make IndiGo the only Indian carrier to offer direct flights between Mumbai and Dar es Salaam. The airline currently operates direct services from India to other African

destinations including Nairobi in Kenya, Mauritius, and Seychelles, expanding its footprint on the continent.

India-Tanzania Relations and Economic Significance

India is among Tanzania’s largest trading partners, with bilateral trade and economic ties strengthening in recent years. The introduction of direct air connectivity between Mumbai and Dar es Salaam aims to facilitate business travel, trade, investment, tourism, and academic exchanges between India and the East Africa region.

Aloke Singh, IndiGo’s chief strategy officer, described Tanzania as a key economic collaborator and gateway to East Africa, emphasizing that the route addresses rising travel demand driven by trade and cultural ties. The daily flights starting November 20, 2026,

will offer travelers more frequent and convenient options for travel between the two countries.

Passengers seeking direct flights between Mumbai and Dar es Salaam will benefit from the new daily services, enhancing access for business and leisure purposes within the growing India-Tanzania corridor.
