A man fell overboard from the MS Ambition, operated by Ambassador Cruise Lines, approximately 36 nautical miles off the east coast of Scotland near Arbroath. The incident was reported at 08:35 on Friday morning.
Multi-Agency Search and Recovery
Following the report, a large-scale search and rescue operation was launched involving lifeboat crews from Anstruther and Broughty Ferry, alongside Coastguard teams from Dundee, Arbroath, and St Andrews. Coastguard aircraft from bases in Prestwick and Carlisle, as well as a commercial search and rescue helicopter, participated in the effort. The man’s body was recovered later that day.

Police Scotland confirmed the death is not being treated
as suspicious and stated the next of kin have been informed. No further details about the man’s identity or the cause of the incident have been released.
At the time of the incident, the MS Ambition was returning to Dundee after a solar eclipse cruise that included stops in Iceland and the Faroe Islands. The ship docked in Lerwick later on Friday before arriving back in Dundee. After a short stop, the vessel departed Dundee bound for Newcastle shortly after 18:00.
The cruise itinerary was uninterrupted by the incident, and no additional information about the circumstances of the overboard event
has been provided by authorities.
