Fly2Galicia is set to begin direct flights to Santiago de Compostela, Spain, with initial departures starting on 1 December 2026. The new budget airline will provide affordable air travel options aimed at boosting connectivity to the region.
Fly2Galicia Route Network and Ticket Sales
The airline will serve eight European destinations from Santiago–Rosalía de Castro Airport, including three domestic Spanish cities—Alicante, Granada, and Zaragoza—and five international cities—Brussels, Prague, Munich, Venice, and Milan. Ticket sales started on 20 August 2026, with prices beginning at €41 for flights from Milan to Santiago, €51 for routes from Brussels, Prague, and Venice, and €71 for flights originating in Munich.
Operational Details and Wizz Air Expansion
Fly2Galicia’s first
flights will be operated by an unnamed European air carrier. In parallel, Wizz Air will start flights to Santiago de Compostela from Rome and Warsaw in December 2026. Wizz Air also plans to establish a permanent base at Santiago–Rosalía de Castro Airport in February, presumably 2027, from which it will launch domestic services to Malaga, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, and Zaragoza.
Tourism Context and Holy Year Pilgrimage
The launch coincides with the 2027 Holy Year pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, a significant event that traditionally attracts travelers worldwide. Santiago’s UNESCO-listed Old Town features architectural styles spanning Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque, and Neoclassicist periods. The city is known
for local attractions such as the Mercado de Abastos food market and the Galician Albariño white wine. Other nearby destinations include A Coruña, Vigo, and the Rías Baixas coastal region.
