Hospitality Ventures Management Group (HVMG) appointed Pete Sams as president in August 2026. Headquartered in Atlanta, the company manages 60 premium-branded full-service hotels, resorts, and upscale select-service properties. Its portfolio spans nearly 12,000 guest rooms across 16 U.S. states and primarily operates under Marriott, Hilton, Hard Rock, and Hyatt brands.

Pete Sams’ Career and Industry Experience

Before joining HVMG, Sams served as president of Highgate Hotels. His previous roles within the KSL Capital portfolio included over six years as chief operating officer of Peregrine Hospitality and Davidson Hospitality Group. During his time at Davidson, the company doubled in size and received the J.D. Power Award for

highest guest satisfaction among third-party operators.

Sams held above-property leadership roles at Interstate Hotels & Resorts and White Lodging Services. Prior to that, he spent more than a decade as a general manager for Omni Hotels & Resorts, including managing its 836-room flagship property in Washington, D.C. Sams also served in the U.S. Army and earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

Leadership Transition and Official Statements

Robert Cole, HVMG founder and CEO, cited a thorough search process before appointing Sams. Cole said, “After a thoughtful and diligent search process and spending significant time getting to know Pete both personally and

professionally, it became very clear that he is the right person and an exceptional fit for this role.” He highlighted Sams’ expertise in operational excellence, industry relationships, financial acumen, and team development.

In a statement, Sams said, “I am honored to join HVMG as president at such an exciting time in the company’s evolution.” He acknowledged alignment with HVMG’s culture and values and the opportunity to build on the company’s foundation under Cole’s leadership.

Company Focus and Executive Role Changes

HVMG, founded 25 years ago, is a privately owned hotel management company specializing in repositioning underperforming properties and maximizing stabilized hotels’ performance. The portfolio includes 60

hotels and one convention center across 16 states.

With Sams assuming the president role, Robert Cole will reduce his involvement in daily operations to concentrate on strategy and strengthening business relationships to support growth. Sams will oversee HVMG’s daily business operations and overall company performance during this next phase of expansion.
