Royal Caribbean has canceled multiple 2027 sailings departing from Los Angeles on its Navigator of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas ships to redirect those vessels to the Asia-Pacific region.
Asia-Pacific Expansion and New Itineraries
The Navigator of the Seas will operate year-round in Asia from October 2026 through October 2027, offering 2- to 5-night cruises with stops in Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand. The ship will also feature a 12-night immersive sailing between Tokyo and Singapore.
Starting in November 2027, Ovation of the Seas will sail from Brisbane, Australia, providing 4-night getaways to Airlie Beach in the Whitsunday Islands alongside cruises ranging from 3
to 8 nights.
Guest Communications and Alternatives
Passengers booked on the canceled U.S. sailings through 2027 have been contacted directly by Royal Caribbean with information and options for alternative itineraries. The canceled voyages initially included multiple stops in Mexico originating from Los Angeles.
Similarly, travelers affected by over 20 canceled Freedom of the Seas cruises for summer 2027 have been notified and offered alternative arrangements.
Official Statements and Operational Considerations
Royal Caribbean stated, “The company is committed to providing the best vacation experiences,” noting itinerary updates accommodate scheduling, port agreements, and operational factors. It added that “deployment planning is dynamic and regularly reviewed based on demand, capacity requirements, and
broader fleet considerations.”
Freedom of the Seas will be redeployed to Southampton, England, in 2027 as part of these adjustments impacting summer cruises.
