Norwegian Cruise Line has opened bookings for over 450 voyages across its 20-ship fleet, launching new summer 2028 itineraries departing from Galveston, Texas. The Miami-based company is offering a 50 percent discount during its End of Summer promotion, valid through August 18, 2026. Select cruises also qualify for up to $750 in onboard credit and participation in the Free at Sea program, which includes perks like free Wi-Fi, unlimited open bar, and excursion credits.

Norwegian Ship Deployments and Itinerary Details

The Norwegian Prima will continue sailing seven-day Western Caribbean cruises from Galveston, with stops including Harvest Caye, Belize. This ship, which accommodates nearly 3,200 passengers, debuted

at Galveston in 2023 and resumed service in early 2025. The Norwegian Viva returns to Texas on October 31, 2026, offering seven-day voyages to Cozumel, Mexico; Roatán, Honduras; and Harvest Caye. Viva’s final sailing of the season from Galveston will begin on April 3, 2027. Meanwhile, the Norwegian Escape is scheduled to start sailings from Galveston in November 2027, further expanding options for travelers at this port.

Port Operations and Market Dynamics

In October 2024, Norwegian Cruise Line secured a long-term presence at the Port of Galveston by signing a 10-year lease agreement with multiple renewal options. Norwegian shares Terminal 16 at Galveston with MSC

Cruises, a company that operates year-round from the same terminal. Carnival, a key competitor based in Galveston, recently canceled several summer and fall 2027 sailings aboard its Jubilee vessel, a move that has influenced other cruise lines’ announcements for summer 2028 itineraries.

Investor Perspectives and Industry Positioning

Bank of Montreal’s Capital Markets division released a cruise sector report in July 2026 assigning Norwegian Cruise Line a “market perform” rating with a $21 per share target, signaling a neutral stance on the stock. BMO ranks Norwegian fourth in investor appeal behind Viking, Royal Caribbean, and Carnival. Analysts cited Norwegian’s narrower premium market niche as a potential

constraint on growth but acknowledged the company’s investments in private island resorts like Great Stirrup Cay and plans to launch 16 new ships by 2037. A BMO analyst said, “Norwegian raises the most questions in the cruise space, considering results are lagging peers, activist involvement, and a tough backdrop against well-oiled competitors.” The report added, “we see the appeal of a premium cruise line, slotting in between RCL and VIK, and the industry tailwinds are favorable, but the numerous steps to full recovery are keeping us on the sidelines for now.”

New Itinerary Options and Booking Incentives

Norwegian’s new summer 2028 voyages from Galveston expand traveler

options to include destinations across the Bahamas, the Caribbean, and Morocco. The booking incentives provide travelers with significant savings through 50 percent off fares and up to $750 in onboard credit for select sailings. Additional benefits via the Free at Sea program enhance the passenger experience with complimentary Wi-Fi, an unlimited open bar, excursion credits, and other perks designed to add value.
