Norwegian Cruise Line has opened bookings for more than 450 voyages across its 20-ship fleet, including a series of new seven-day sailings from Galveston, Texas, departing summer 2028. The company is offering promotional discounts of up to 50% off and onboard credits up to $750 for bookings made before August 18, 2026. Selected cruises also qualify for the Free at Sea program, which provides free Wi-Fi and unlimited open bar among other perks.

New Western Caribbean Cruises from Galveston

The new itineraries from Galveston will be operated by Norwegian Prima, a vessel with a capacity for nearly 3,200 passengers. Norwegian Prima will sail seven-day routes to

the Western Caribbean, featuring stops at various regional ports and including Harvest Caye, Norwegian’s private island resort in Belize. The ship originally debuted at Galveston in 2023 and returned for an additional season in early 2025.

Terminal Lease and Shared Facilities at Port of Galveston

Norwegian Cruise Line strengthened its commitment to Galveston with a 10-year lease agreement signed in October 2024 for Terminal 16 at the Port of Galveston. The lease includes options for multiple renewals. Norwegian shares Terminal 16 with MSC Cruises, which operates year-round sailings from this terminal.

Additional Ships and Sailing Schedules from Galveston

Norwegian Viva is set to return to Galveston on October 31, 2026, operating seven-day cruises to Cozumel, Mexico;

Roatán, Honduras; and Harvest Caye. Viva’s season from Galveston concludes on April 3, 2027. Additionally, the Norwegian Escape is scheduled to begin sailings from Galveston in November 2027.

Competitive Landscape Amid Carnival Cancellations

Carnival Cruises recently canceled several summer and fall 2027 sailings aboard its Galveston-based ship Jubilee. This has coincided with other companies announcing summer 2028 itineraries from Galveston, notably Norwegian Cruise Line expanding its presence. A Bank of Montreal Capital Markets report rates Norwegian a “market perform” amid challenges including activist involvement and slower recovery compared to competitors. The report notes Norwegian occupies a narrower premium niche which may limit growth, but highlights

the company’s investments like Great Stirrup Cay and plans to launch 16 new ships by 2037.
