Hyatt Hotels Corporation and RJR Investments & Holdings Inc. announced on August 13, 2026, that Atlantic Suites Hotel has officially joined the Hyatt portfolio as the first affiliated hotel in Guyana. The current hotel will undergo a $50 million redevelopment project, leading to its integration with a new adjoining tower and rebranding as Hyatt Regency Georgetown Guyana by 2028.
Current Facilities and Amenities at Atlantic Suites Hotel
Atlantic Suites Hotel in Georgetown currently offers 80 guestrooms and suites featuring floor-to-ceiling windows with views of either the Atlantic Ocean or the Georgetown skyline. The property includes a 24-hour fitness center for guests. Additionally, visitors gain access to services at
the nearby Pegasus Hotel and Pegasus Corporate Business Center, both owned by RJR Investments & Holdings Inc. The Pegasus Corporate Business Center provides approximately 36,000 square feet of meeting and event space, alongside six dining venues such as the Aura Sky Lounge and an outdoor pool.
Development Plans for Hyatt Regency Georgetown Guyana
The planned $50 million development will add a new tower adjacent to the current Atlantic Suites Hotel, connected by a pedestrian bridge. Upon completion in 2028, the combined property will feature 240 guestrooms and suites. The expanded Hyatt Regency Georgetown will include a signature restaurant and market, a redesigned lobby, a rooftop bar, and
additional meeting and event spaces to support business, leisure, and group travelers.
Location and Market Positioning
Located in Georgetown, the capital and commercial center of Guyana, Atlantic Suites is about six miles from the Eugene F. Correia International Airport. The hotel serves a growing clientele of business and leisure visitors with convenient access to government offices and the city’s burgeoning business district.
Official Statements on Market Entry
Cristiano Gonçalves, Vice President of Development for South America and the Caribbean at Hyatt, described the entry into Guyana as a strategic milestone. He cited the country’s expanding economy and increasing travel demand as drivers for targeting business and extended-stay travelers with
Hyatt’s hospitality. RJR Investments CEO Robert Badal emphasized Guyana’s notable growth and international interest, calling the Hyatt affiliation an opportunity to build on the Pegasus Hotel’s legacy and showcase Guyana’s culture and hospitality globally.
Hyatt Brand Portfolio and Loyalty Integration
Hyatt’s presence in Guyana will further expand with Hyatt Place Georgetown expected to join the portfolio in late 2026. Hyatt Place will offer 136 rooms, a rooftop bar, outdoor pool, and complimentary breakfast. Following its transition in 2028, Hyatt Regency Georgetown Guyana will participate in Hyatt’s World of Hyatt loyalty program, allowing guests to earn and redeem points on stays, dining, and other experiences.
Regional Growth Strategy
The affiliation
of Atlantic Suites Hotel aligns with Hyatt’s broader strategy to grow its footprint in emerging Latin American and Caribbean markets where it previously had no hotels. As of June 30, 2026, Hyatt operated over 1,500 properties in 83 countries globally, spanning multiple portfolios including Luxury, Lifestyle, Inclusive Collection, Classics, and Essentials. This development reinforces Hyatt’s commitment to expanding across these regions.
