Porter Airlines canceled a flight scheduled to depart from Victoria International Airport in British Columbia on August 6, 2026, after a child passenger refused to sit down and fasten their seatbelt.
The child’s parent and airline crew members made repeated attempts to secure the child in the seat, but these efforts were unsuccessful. As a result, the plane returned to the terminal to remove both the parent and the child from the aircraft.
Removing the passengers and their baggage delayed the Toronto-bound flight beyond the airport’s 12:30 a.m. local time runway closure. This delay forced the remaining passengers to disembark
from the aircraft.
Porter Airlines apologized to the affected passengers and rebooked them on a flight departing the following day, according to a statement issued on August 9, 2026.
