Jetstar spokesperson said, “Our aircraft was following instructions by Air Traffic Control when the pilots were forced to brake firmly after another aircraft came in close proximity. We have commenced an investigation into the incident.” Airservices Australia, the air traffic manager, reviewed the event and is assisting safety investigations. It stated it was working with airlines to minimize delay impacts on passengers.
Traveler Impact and Airport Response
One cabin attendant involved in the incident required treatment from paramedics at the airport. Flight disruptions affected travelers departing from both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of Sydney Airport throughout the day.
In response to the incident, Airservices
Australia implemented enhanced departure spacing measures to safely manage projected airborne and departure demands, aiming to prevent further operational issues.
