The 16th Magical Kenya Travel Expo was held from October 6 to 8, 2026, at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi, Kenya. The event convened over 10,000 tourism delegates and industry professionals representing more than 40 countries. More than 400 exhibitors and upwards of 250 international buyers attended the three-day expo.
Expo Aims for Five Million International Visitors by 2027
The Ministry of Tourism used the expo to advance Kenya’s strategic goal of attracting five million international visitors annually by 2027. The event provided a platform showcasing the country’s tourism assets and its role as the main gateway for East African travel business, positioning Nairobi as a regional hub.
Focus on Digital Transformation in Tourism
The expo
highlighted innovations in digital transformation within the tourism sector, emphasizing the integration of artificial intelligence and big data. Smart destination systems demonstrated capabilities for dynamic pricing and personalized itineraries. Additionally, upgraded digital booking channels and mobile payment systems were promoted to streamline transactions for international tourists.
MICE Sector Development to Attract Business Travelers
The Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector was a key feature of the expo, underscoring its importance in Kenya’s long-term tourism strategy. By enhancing conference facilities and supporting infrastructure in Nairobi and Mombasa, Kenya aims to increase visits by business travelers who contribute higher revenue through longer stays and increased spending on local
services.
B2B Meetings and Sustainable Travel Initiatives
The expo facilitated business-to-business meetings that allowed local suppliers to establish direct contracts with international travel agents. Regional familiarization tours, attended by hosted buyers, included visits to national parks and resorts to deepen product knowledge. The event’s program aligned with the growing global demand for sustainable, low-impact travel by promoting eco-friendly accommodations and community engagement.
Travelers can expect advancements from the expo to simplify booking and payments and support diverse activities such as community-guided walks and eco-tours enabled by enhanced infrastructure. Given the influx of 10,000 delegates, early booking of flights and accommodations in Nairobi for October is recommended
to ensure availability.
The Magical Kenya Travel Expo remains integral to Kenya’s tourism expansion, reinforcing its role in East Africa’s travel market and supporting growth toward the five million visitor target by 2027.
