Carnival Cruise Line announced the cancellation of nine scheduled sailings of the Carnival Jubilee departing from the Port of Galveston between August and December 2027. The cancellations affect voyages planned for late summer through early winter of 2027.
Dates and Itineraries Affected
The cancelled sailings include departures on August 15, 21, and 29; September 12, 18, and 26; November 7; and December 5 and 11, 2027. These voyages featured six- to eight-night itineraries focused on Western Caribbean and Bahamas destinations.
Operational Reasons Behind Cancellations
Carnival cited revised operational plans as the reason for cancelling these sailings. While specific details were not disclosed, such operational changes typically involve fleet
scheduling adjustments, drydock maintenance needs, or strategic redeployment decisions to optimize the cruise line’s deployments.
Passenger Options Following Cancellations
Passengers booked on the impacted sailings have been offered the option to rebook similar cruises with rate protection to shield them from fare increases. Additionally, Carnival is providing a $50 onboard credit per person, capped at $100 per stateroom, for those who choose to rebook. Passengers who prefer not to rebook are eligible for full refunds covering cruise fares and pre-purchased services, including add-ons such as dining and shore excursions. Carnival’s rebooking team has been made available to assist passengers in selecting alternative sailings.
Carnival Jubilee Deployment and Fleet Context
The
Carnival Jubilee is an LNG-powered Excel-class ship with a double occupancy capacity of approximately 5,400 passengers. It operates year-round from Galveston, offering seven-night Western Caribbean cruises that include ports in Mexico’s Costa Maya and Cozumel, Honduras’ Isla Tropicale Roatán, and the Bahamas. From September 2025, the ship’s itinerary will expand to include Bahamas destinations such as the private islands Celebration Key and RelaxAway Half Moon Cay.
Celebration Key is Carnival’s newest private destination in the Bahamas, providing enhanced amenities and extensive beach areas compared to the long-established Half Moon Cay. These private destinations allow Carnival to manage guest experiences and
capacity effectively.
Carnival operates one of the world’s largest cruise fleets, and the Jubilee is a core vessel in its Galveston operations. The ship’s LNG propulsion represents a significant environmental advancement, reducing emissions relative to traditional marine fuel.

In a statement to affected passengers, Carnival said: “We have revised operational plans for the Carnival Jubilee and, unfortunately, your cruise has been cancelled.” The line added, “We sincerely apologise for this change and thank you for your understanding.”
Carnival’s compensation approach aligns with industry standards for cruise line-initiated schedule changes. The advance notice of more than two years provides ample time
for passengers to adjust their travel plans. Galveston remains a key homeport for Carnival, serving the Texas market with convenient access to both Western Caribbean and Bahamas itineraries.
