Carnival Cruise Line has cancelled nine scheduled sailings of its Carnival Jubilee ship departing from the Port of Galveston, Texas, between August and December 2027. The cancelled voyages include departures on August 15, 21, and 29; September 12, 18, and 26; November 7; as well as December 5 and 11, 2027.
The Carnival Jubilee, an Excel-class vessel powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), accommodates approximately 5,400 passengers. Since entering service, it has operated year-round from Galveston, serving as one of Carnival’s flagship ships in this strategic homeport.
The cancelled cruises involved six- to eight-night itineraries featuring Western Caribbean destinations such
as Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico and Roatán in Honduras. Bahamas ports of call included Carnival’s private islands Celebration Key and Half Moon Cay. This mix of ports is typical for the Carnival Jubilee’s programming from Galveston.
Carnival attributed the cancellations to revised operational plans but did not specify the exact reasons behind the adjustments. Such changes often relate to fleet scheduling optimisation, drydock maintenance, or redeployment strategies within the cruise line’s global operations.
Passengers affected by the cancellations have options to rebook on alternative Carnival cruises with the benefit of rate protection, which prevents price increases for comparable
accommodations. Those who rebook also receive onboard credit of $50 per person, limited to $100 per stateroom. If passengers choose not to rebook, Carnival offers full refunds covering cruise fares and pre-purchased add-ons like dining packages and shore excursions. The cruise line reminded travelers to review any non-refundable third-party bookings such as flights and hotels.
In communications with guests, Carnival stated, “We have revised operational plans for the Carnival Jubilee and, unfortunately, your cruise has been cancelled.” The company added, “We sincerely apologise for this change and thank you for your understanding.”
Cruise cancellations are relatively infrequent but occur as
operators adjust deployment to meet operational and market requirements. Galveston remains a key North American cruise port with Carnival maintaining a significant presence. The Carnival Jubilee’s LNG propulsion reflects the company’s investment in environmentally advanced vessels serving this market.
