Tourist arrivals in Cyprus during June 2026 totaled 489,965, down 1.7% from 498,527 in June 2025 but up 1.6% from 482,261 in June 2024, according to figures released by CySTAT. For the first half of 2026, arrivals reached 1,656,015, a 10.1% decrease compared to 1,843,013 in the same period of 2025, yet 1.65% higher than 1,652,475 in January-June 2024.
Israeli Tourist Arrivals Surge in June 2026
Israeli arrivals to Cyprus in June 2026 more than doubled, reaching 80,343 compared to 30,246 in June 2025, marking a 165.7% rise. This also represents a 49.8% increase over May 2026, which saw 53,649 arrivals from Israel. Despite this surge, Israeli
arrivals for January to June 2026 declined by 8.6%, totaling 192,037 versus 210,220 in the first half of 2025.
Tourism Trends from Key Markets in First Half 2026
The United Kingdom remained Cyprus’s largest tourism market in the first half of 2026 with 539,415 arrivals, down 13.8% from 626,004 in the corresponding period of 2025. Poland recorded growth, with arrivals increasing 4.8% to 165,731 from 158,208.
Germany, the fourth-largest market, saw arrivals decrease by 6.9%, with 106,537 tourists compared to 114,485 in January-June 2025. Greece followed with 78,811 arrivals, a 7.5% reduction from 85,224 in 2025. Swedish arrivals decreased by approximately 3% to 64,391 from 66,394.
Other notable markets
in the first half of 2026 included Romania with 35,418 arrivals, Austria with 28,519, Hungary with 23,494, and France with 22,970 tourists.
Deputy Minister Comments and Regional Impact on Tourism
Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis stated that the June 2026 tourism results indicate a return to a stable trajectory. He characterized the overall performance of the month as satisfactory given the circumstances, saying, “they confirm that our country’s tourism has returned to a stable trajectory, as the overall performance of the month is considered satisfactory under the circumstances.” The turbulent situation in the Middle East negatively impacted arrivals earlier in 2026 but was partly offset by the
sharp rebound of Israeli tourists in June.
Diversity of Tourist Origins in Early 2026
In addition to major markets, Cyprus attracted visitors from 21 other countries in the first half of 2026. However, no tourist arrivals were recorded from 13 other countries during this period, underscoring the uneven recovery across source markets amid ongoing regional uncertainties.
