Tourist arrivals in Cyprus totaled 489,965 in June 2026, down 1.7% from 498,527 in June 2025 but up 1.6% compared to June 2024, according to CySTAT data. For the first half of 2026, arrivals reached 1,656,015, a 10.1% decrease from 1,843,013 in the same period in 2025 but 1.65% higher than 1,652,475 recorded in the first half of 2024. Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis stated that “our country’s tourism has returned to a stable trajectory, as the overall performance of the month is considered satisfactory under the circumstances.”
Israeli Tourist Arrivals Rebound Sharply in June 2026
Israeli tourist arrivals reached 80,343 in June 2026, marking a 165.7%
increase compared to 30,246 in June 2025. Arrivals from Israel in May 2026 were 53,649, indicating a 49.8% growth in June arrivals over the previous month. Despite this surge in June, Israeli arrivals for January to June 2026 totaled 192,037, down 8.6% from 210,220 during the same period in 2025. The strong June comeback by Israeli tourists played a significant role in limiting the overall losses in Cyprus tourism amid regional challenges.
United Kingdom Remains Cyprus’s Largest Tourism Market
The United Kingdom continued as the top source market for Cyprus in the first half of 2026 with 539,415 arrivals, a 13.8% decline from 626,004 arrivals in the
same period in 2025. Following Israel, the UK leads in visitor numbers despite this drop, maintaining a significant margin over other markets.
European Markets Show Mixed Results in H1 2026
Poland registered an increase in tourist arrivals to Cyprus, with 165,731 visitors in the first half of 2026, up 4.8% from 158,208 in 2025. Germany accounted for 106,537 arrivals in the same period, down 6.9% from 114,485 in 2025, remaining the fourth main market. Greece contributed 78,811 arrivals, declining 7.5% from 85,224 in 2025. Sweden’s arrivals fell by approximately 3% to 64,391 from 66,394. Romania (35,418), Austria (28,519), Hungary (23,494), and France (22,970) completed the top ten source
countries for the first half of 2026.
Regional Factors Impact Tourism Volume
Tourism figures for Cyprus in the first half of 2026 were affected by situations in the Middle East, contributing to declines in some markets. Nonetheless, Cyprus sustained visitors from 21 other countries during this period. Conversely, no tourists arrived from 13 countries in the first half of 2026. The overall sector outlook shows resilience with arrivals nearing 2024 levels while managing challenges posed by geopolitical conditions.
