On July 16, 2026, a pregnant woman experiencing complications was medically evacuated from the Carnival Sunrise cruise ship approximately 4 miles northeast of Government Cut, off the coast of Miami, Florida.

The U.S. Coast Guard Station Miami Beach crew responded after the ship’s security manager requested assistance. The woman was safely transferred from the Carnival Sunrise by Coast Guard personnel. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue then transported her to Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami for further treatment.

Carnival Cruise Line confirmed the evacuation occurred shortly after the ship departed Miami. An official statement said, “On July 16, shortly after departing from
Miami, FL, Carnival Sunrise reported the need to medically disembark a passenger due to illness. In coordination with the U.S. Coast Guard, the passenger was safely transferred from the vessel and transported to a shoreside medical facility for further treatment. The ship resumed its voyage and there was no impact to its scheduled itinerary.”
