Royal Caribbean has extended its suspension of cruise ship calls to Labadee, Haiti, through June 2027 due to ongoing security concerns. Guests booked on select sailings have been informed about itinerary changes reflecting this decision.
February 2027 Legend of the Seas Itinerary Adjusted
The February 14, 2027 sailing of Legend of the Seas from Fort Lauderdale originally scheduled to include stops at Perfect Day at CocoCay, Labadee, and Falmouth, Jamaica, will no longer visit Labadee. Instead, the revised itinerary includes port calls at Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico.
Labadee: Royal Caribbean’s Private Destination
Labadee is a 260-acre private resort area exclusively operated and controlled by Royal Caribbean, located roughly 130 miles north of
Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince. The site features beaches, water attractions, and the Dragon’s Breath Flight Line zipline. The destination is fenced and protected by private security and accessible only to Royal Caribbean guests. No other cruise lines call at Labadee.
Security Crisis in Haiti Drives Suspension
Royal Caribbean’s suspension follows escalating security challenges in Haiti, including gang violence starting in 2024, with attacks targeting government facilities and law enforcement agencies. The U.S. Department of State currently advises against all travel to Haiti with a Level 4 “Do Not Travel” warning, citing violent crime and kidnappings. The Canadian government similarly advises travelers to avoid all travel to Haiti.
The last cruise call at Labadee took place in April 2025 before suspensions resumed amid deteriorating conditions.
A Royal Caribbean Group spokesperson said, “As we continue to evaluate conditions in Haiti and our ability to deliver the best vacations responsibly, we have decided to extend the suspension of ship calls to Labadee through June 2027. This decision was made with the safety and well-being of our guests and crew members in mind. We have communicated these changes directly with guests.”
Passengers on affected cruises will have their itineraries modified to exclude Labadee and instead visit alternative Mexican ports. Royal Caribbean
is maintaining close monitoring of the situation in Haiti before considering a return to Labadee.
