Carnival Cruise Line initiated the construction of its newest vessel, Carnival Destiny, on July 10, 2026, with a steel-cutting ceremony at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. Carnival Destiny is the first ship in the line’s next-generation Ace Class series, marking a new chapter in its fleet development.
Design Innovations and Onboard Features
Carnival Destiny will feature an unprecedented number of ocean-facing balcony cabins aimed at enhancing passenger views of the sea. The ship includes a redesigned lanai deck and incorporates more than 4.5 acres of glass, including expansive multi-story glass walls, to maximize ocean sightlines across the vessel. Over 70% of the ship’s venues
and attractions will introduce entirely new concepts for Carnival, covering dining, bars, entertainment, and outdoor spaces.
Delivery Schedule and Itineraries
Scheduled for delivery in summer 2029, Carnival Destiny will sail destinations within Carnival’s Paradise Collection, the cruise line’s extensive portfolio of exclusive Caribbean, Bahamas, and Mexico locations. Two additional Ace Class ships are planned for delivery in 2031 and 2033 as part of Carnival’s continued fleet expansion.
Carnival’s Legacy and Partnership with Fincantieri
Carnival’s collaboration with Fincantieri spans more than 30 years, beginning with the original Carnival Destiny, which was the world’s largest cruise ship when introduced. This legacy informs the new ship’s design, aimed at redefining guest experiences at
sea by making it the most outward-facing megaship for unparalleled ocean connection.
Official Statements on Guest Experience
Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, said the new vessel ‘‘builds on a legacy that changed cruising once before, reimagining what guests can experience at sea.’’ She added, ‘‘With this ship, we’re elevating the guest experience again creating a ship that feels more expansive, while helping guests feel more connected and ultimately have more fun.’’
Fleet Expansion and Future Growth
Carnival Cruise Line operates 29 ships and manages more homeports than any other North American or Australian cruise line. It plans to add five new ships by 2033, including two additional Ace
Class vessels after Carnival Destiny and two Excel Class ships scheduled for 2027 and 2028 deliveries, continuing Carnival’s growth trajectory.
