Carnival Cruise Line held its steel-cutting ceremony for the Carnival Destiny on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, initiating construction of the first vessel in its new Ace class fleet.

The Carnival Destiny is scheduled to debut in summer 2029 as the flagship of Carnival’s Ace class. Two additional sister ships are planned to join the fleet in 2031 and 2033. The Carnival Destiny name revives a legacy from more than 30 years ago, referencing the original Carnival Destiny, once the world’s largest cruise ship.

Advanced Design and Features

The Carnival Destiny will feature an unprecedented number of ocean-facing

balcony cabins, aiming to increase passenger exposure to the sea. Its design includes a reimagined lanai deck and more than 4.5 acres of glass, incorporating expansive multi-story glass walls to create continuous ocean views throughout the ship.

New Onboard Concepts

More than 70% of the Carnival Destiny’s venues and attractions will debut as new concepts for the cruise line. These include next-generation options in dining, bars, and entertainment, designed to redefine the onboard guest experience.

Routing and Passenger Experience

Upon completion, Carnival Destiny will sail to exclusive destinations within Carnival’s Paradise Collection, which covers the Caribbean, Bahamas, and Mexico. This itinerary represents the cruise industry’s largest portfolio

of exclusive sites across these regions.

Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy said the ship “builds on a legacy that changed cruising once before, reimagining what guests can experience at sea.” She added, “With this ship, we’re elevating the guest experience again creating a ship that feels more expansive, while helping guests feel more connected and ultimately have more fun.”
